What thumbnail sizes can I download?
Three sizes: HD 1280×720 (maxresdefault), SD 640×480 (sddefault) and HQ 480×360 (hqdefault). Not every video has an HD thumbnail — older or low-resolution uploads may only offer SD and HQ, which the tool flags for you.
Does it work with YouTube Shorts links?
Yes. Shorts links (youtube.com/shorts/…), short youtu.be links, embed links and normal watch links are all supported. You can also paste a bare 11-character video ID.
Why does the HD version sometimes say "not available"?
YouTube only generates a 1280×720 thumbnail when the video itself was uploaded in high resolution. For older or low-resolution videos only the smaller sizes exist — the tool detects this automatically and tells you.
Can I reuse a thumbnail I download?
A video thumbnail belongs to the channel that uploaded it. Downloading for reference, study or designing your own thumbnail is fine, but get the creator's permission before republishing their thumbnail as your own.
